Hiking tour to Ivigna/Ifinger mountain
Ivigna/Ifinger mountain is the local mountain in Scena/Schenna, which makes of it a top destination during your hiking holiday in Scena/Schenna. This hiking trail leads over a secured via ferrata; however, you need a certain degree of mountain experience to master this route. The hike starts in the hiking region Merano 2000, only a few minutes’ drive from Hotel Meinhardt. Take the Ivigna/Ifinger cable car to Pfiffinger Köpfl, the starting point of this hike. Here take trail number 3 towards Missensteinjoch. Once you have passed the Waidmannalm, take trail number 19A on your left up to Oswaldscharte and continue until Kuhleiten restaurant. About 50 m beneath the summit of the Little Ivigna/Ifinger you find the starting point of the via ferrata. Now you need to secure yourself with your gear before continuing. You reach the summit of the Large Ivigna/Ifinger in about 1 hour, located at 2,581 m. The descent follows the same route. The duration of this hike is about 5 hours.
If you prefer an easier hike, we recommend you to climb the top of the Little Ivigna/Ifinger. At the crossing, simply continue straight ahead, and follow the ridge to the top. This trail is also suitable for less experienced hikers.
Rasteinweg trail
Not far from Hotel Meinhardt you find another less challenging hiking trail: the Rasteinweg trail. Starting point is Via Picher/Pichlerstraße. From here, continue on Via Berger/Bergerweg following trail number 18 A. Walk past the Roathof and Rastlhof restaurants and continue on the Höfeweg trail until you reach Salfgut where you turn right, to descend on the Rasteinweg trail. The Gsteirerweg trail leads you back to the starting point. For this hike, you need about 3 hours.
Scena/Schenna waalweg trail
This trail starts in the immediate vicinity of Hotel Meinhardt. Follow the signs “Zum Waal” (to the waal) past orchards, until you reach the Brunjaun restaurant. The waal trail starts here, leading either to the little hamlet San Giorgio/St. Georgen and further on to the Merano 2000 gondola car or in the opposite direction all the way to the Waalerhütte.
